Background
Nova’s the best. Or rather, she *could* be. But with the Imperial iron fist closing around so much of the galaxy, the Empire’s systemic humanocentrism came with it. The young Terrelian Jango Jumper saw her application to the Imperial Academy denied again and again. And when the Empire did finally arrive at her homeworld, it was to silence "alien" voices, rather to add them to an Imperial chorus.
And so, forced to leave behind the only home she'd ever known, Nova turned to the one of the few places in Hutt space where she could prove herself at the flight control: Piracy.
Welcomed into the scoundrels’ fold, as one of the many Pirates of Tarnoonga, Nova rose through the raiders’ ranks until she not only began racking up stunning space victories, she began to regard the pirates as family too.
But when the once mighty Ohnaka Gang sent out a distress call, Nova realized there was little honor among thieves after all. The Empire had come to address the growing threat of Ohnaka’s operation, but instead of aiding a fellow buccaneer, Captain Gir Kybo Ren-Cha and the Pirates of Tarnoonga swooped in when the Weequays were most vulnerable — seizing their fleet, their assets and what plunder there was to be had — even going so far as to adopt the gang’s menacing emblem as their own! Ohnaka himself escaped, but didn’t he always?
Dismayed, the Jango Jumper jumped ship. And found a place where she could *really* prove herself, and perhaps, strike a blow against the fascism that had denied her opportunity, and had taken so much from so many.
Stealing one of Kybo Ren’s A-wings was easy enough. The Ropagu Raider was too self-absorbed to see far beyond the reach of his own portly frame. Finding the Rebellion was more difficult — and she had to brave the astronavigational nightmare known as the Cloak of the Sith to do so.
Fortunately, she was able to make contact with a rebel spy aboard Lightstation: Galaxeed, thanks to the "underground spacelane" founded there as a means of providing safe passage to those wishing to join (or already affiliated with) the Rebel Alliance. And so, with little but her pirate starfighter and a heavy blaster at her side, Nova leapt into the tumultuous currents of Civil War as one of the ace pilots of Torrent Squadron! Whether or not she would ever see them as true comrades, or simply a means to an end is another matter however.
Motivation
Revenge? Maybe. Nova prefers to call it *justice* — and believes she is driven by "principle." In striking a blow against the Empire, she strikes a blow for each time she was denied, and for every life the person has taken.
To most onlookers, however, she appears to act in pure self interest, trying to make up for being thought of as lesser being by the Empire.

Space Superiority
Description
Aloof and wary of forming emotional bonds — almost to the point of paranoia, Nova and her apparent altruism have a dark undercurrent. Though she fights against Imperial injustice in earnest, she does so to exact vengeance as well. While she now sees the camaraderie of crew and the fellowship of spacers as illusory, she has genuinely taken to another pirate maxim when it comes to her rebel duties: It's an eye for an eye, and tooth for a tooth.
Physical Description: Verity Nova has angular features and a lean, lanky build. A shade over 6 feet tall, she has pale cyan skin, large heavy-lidded eyes with blood-red pupils and blood-red hair that she keeps in a stylish "fashion-mullet." In keeping with Terrelian Jango Jumper custom, she likewise fears a thin, form-fitting cast of her face, hinged at the jaw, as a mask in bone-white.
