Dierkk Rexley was born and raised on the Kuat shipyards, as a grease womprat, to a poor family. His father was an endentured servant to the owner of a freighter-repair station on the shipyards. While servitude was generally not allowed on the core worlds, since Dierkk's father was never allowed on the surface of the planet, the agreement was within the law. His father never tried to escape, from fear of losing his family.

Dierkk, in turn, was also indentured to Bax Mast, the Rodian who owned the shop. He spent most of his youth repairing the hulls and computer systems of freighters with his fusion glow rod and ion refitter. Dierkk had a real knack for getting into trouble - often being beat and punished by Bax, which resulted in the same punishment for Dierkk's father.

Sometime at the beginning Clone Wars, the shipyards had been refit to support the war effort - creating Venator-class Star Destroyers. More recently however, three years into the galactic war, they have just begun rolling out a new model called the I-class.

Finally, during a fit between Dierkk's father and the master - Bax had run out of patience with his disobedient servant and pulled his blaster. There was a subsequent brawl that Dierkk saw. Upon his father yelling "Run Dierkk! Get out of here! Take the ship!" As Dierkk began running, he heard a blaster discharge and his father was silenced...

Freedom - Dierkk just wants to be free, a piece of him will always be a slave.
