During the Clone Wars, Bix flew a G9 Rigger-class light freighter; the ship's crew included Bix, and a Gungan mechanic named Crask. They were tasked with transporting a Jedi padawan named Navi, and her Jedi Master A'ker Ozaazi to the multiple war zones.

However, when the Great Jedi Purge began, Bix watched as the clones turned on his Jedi friends. Bix and Crask escaped and when the Republic became the Empire, they were not compensated for their pay. Bix had to sell the freighter and return home to Glee Anselm. There he witnesses the Empire's tyranny first hand.

Bix is a Nautolan, he is amphibious, capable of breathing both air and water. Nautolans are known to be capable of surviving in extreme environments. Bix has bright green skin. One of his most notable features are the large, dark eyes, which were a product of evolution; through these eyes, he can spot details in lightless oceans.

Another notable detail are the long tendrils, which grew from his head. These tendrils were chemical-sensing, and most notably used to detect pheromones. Nautolans can translate pheromones emitted by other beings into an understanding of a being's emotional state.
