Background
Gulley has no intention to return to Secundus Ando, but despite that he remains the chief male of his ruling nest. That means it is his responsibility to breed with the chief female, be beheaded, and then eaten. This is a great honor, but still Gulley wants nothing to do with it.
Gulley has been in deep cover in a long string of undercover investigations for decades. So long that Gulley often confuses his undercover lives with his real one. Unfortunately, his instability has caused him to be taken off active duty.

Motivation
Gulley needs to keep moving and stay away from Secundus Ando. He has an unnatural fear of being killed and eaten. Deep cover missions have the combined benefits of keeping Gulley in money, and keeping his identity hidden. Gulley wants to be reinstated.
