Electrobinoculars

These are macrobinoculars with a set of optical enhancements, such as thermal imaging and the ability to record data observed. They allow vision in low light or extremely bright conditions. Magnifies targets up to 10 kilometres away. Thus remove one setback die imposed by such conditions or distance.

Concealed Recorder
People say things in private that wouldn't even cross their mind to say in public. Capturing that soundbyte in a private meeting can provide a negotiator with the leverage needed for future encounters.

Background

“Family comes first, always remember that”
It was the clearest memory Owl could retain of his father, time and life itself blurred into a distorted reality, with each passing day faces blurred, names fragmented, experiences mixed. Yet through this distortion, he could remember it clearly, traces of a long lost joy, a bond, and finally, the screams, the pain, the pleas, he could remember it all, and how he revelled in all of it.

Owl was a simple country-side boy, he picked up the trade of hunting from his father, he learned to shoot an antique bolt action rifle, god knows how his father got one, but he always had a preference for slugthrowers, a preference that would manifest in the young boy. Over the years he practiced, explored and studied the wilderness of Jabiim, from many close encounters and near-ends for the young child, he learnt that caution was probably best when dealing with the unknown, alongside the eventual use of repulsor skates and general ways to maneuver through the muds of jabiim.

Yet despite the peaceful life of hunting, a normal school life and a healthy and strong relationship with his 5 year old sister Inra, the reality of life on jabiim eventually hit when was nine, the economic struggles and stress, their father spent more and more time away from home, hunting and doing anything in his power to make ends meet, to keep a roof above their head and to have food on their plate everyday. Owl leveraged this increased spare time by teaching his sister as much as he could about hunting and survival skills in the wilderness that he had picked up, as their father had neglected to teach Inra due to his conservative views. Owl had also grown close to a fellow student amidst the chaos, Anson Orva (don't tell toby about this), a close friend and rival from the very moment they met, constantly trying to best eachother in anyway possible, through this, Owl would learn that both Ansons parents were police officers in the nearby town.

The following years kept the same cycle, but at the age of 10, a horrible incident would occur, Anson, would get caught up in a notorious slaver attack, Owl had never experienced let alone witness an attack such as Anson was in town in a school trip when it happened, a slaver attack commenced as the class went into the police station, the kids and many other citizens were hurried into safety, the ensuing attack would leave the town damaged, but thanks to the work of local soldiers and the police, yet not without casualties, several police officers perished in the fighting in a desperate attempt to save civilians, Anson didn't go home that day. Anson sought out Owl after the incident, after he told Owl’s parents of the incident, he would become a member of the Avro household, Anson went as far as to change his last name to fit in. Despite the trauma of the incident, Owl and Anson would grow closer because of this, with both watching for each other's back despite their rivalry, both also were protective of Inra.

Another incident would occur, 2 years after Anson became part of the Avro household, the incident played a massive part in Owl’s mental health and played a large part in his future career, alongside several notable mental health issues that plague him to this day. On a fateful day, the 8 year old Inra went to school like she had the past 3 years, she would not come back home ever again. The incident sent Owl into a spiral, he became cold, isolated, he was violent and prone to sudden bursts of anger, yet a schoolmate, he had met ~2 years ago, would change everything. Cole Hollis, a friend of Owl, helped him through his troubles, both found a mutual interest in each other's hobby, this relationship allowed Owl to recover significantly, yet something would eventually grow between the two, something that allowed both to persist through the horrors of the oncoming storm.

By the outbreak of the clone wars, Owl, Cole and Anson joined the military, and had subsequently ended up being selected in the secret Nimbus commando unit at the time, the trio had foreseen the oncoming war and despised the republic rule and how neglected Jabiim was with slaver attacks and famine. The outbreak of the war would see the Trio regrouping with the other Nimbus Commandos, the subsequent initial battles would see staggering gains for the nationalist forces, Owl would become well known for his exception marksmanship and exclusive use of Slugthrowers, while Cole became well known for his demolition skills and gunnery and Anson would be renowned for his CQC skills, Anson would also be separated from Owl & Cole as he was transferred into.

With the republic entry, the Nationalists advance slowed but still persisted, Owl would be deployed to defend a town, there the Nationalist forces and Nimbus Commandos would see heavy fighting as they repelled a Republic Counter-Attack, from the fighting, he would meet up again with Carl Halifax, a friend he made during the selection process for the Nimbus Commandos, Carl was unlike most members of the Nimbus Commandos, while he was a field officer, what made him separate from the rest was that he was a military advisor, he worked with the nationalist forces, militias and guerilla fighters. At the aftermath of the battle, while Owl as getting treated after a mortar shell landed close enough to scorch his arm, he would have a shocking reunion with the last person he thought he would see, Inra, their reunion brought up years of emotions and joy to both Avro’s their lives had drastically been changed because of that day, yet sadly, Owl had to depart shortly after their reunion. Inra would never see her brother ever again, she would learn of his fate shortly before the republic evacuation of Jabiim.

With the battle having been drawn out, Owl, Cole, Carl and Anson would be deployed into Razorcoast, they thought it was a nice vacation compared to the forces that would attack the main republic emplacements, oh how wrong they were. In their peaceful time in razorcoast, Owl and Cole would have a talk, one that forever changed everything between them, yet it was something that made both of them happy, but this joy, this bond, it would all be short lived. In the following days, Razorcoast would battle against the a overwhelming Republic strike force, the fighting would return to a type of fighting of an old era from a universe far far away, Owl, Carl and a few other Nimbus commandos would lead a fanatical defense of the first line as Nationalists and other Commandos were forced into their secondary defenses, Carl would meet his fate when an explosive barrel was launched at him by a jedi, and Owl would engage in a hand to hand duel with a Jedi, Vwooom, it was the last thing Owl heard that day.

The missing pieces are everywhere and trapped in the accursed chassis of a Commando Droid, he is forced to live the rest of his days as a steel frame, Owl is dead set on finding the missing link for why he is in a Droid body, what happened to his family and loved ones, and finally, how to become human again.

Motivation

Old, tired and suffering from dimensia. Owl struggles to remember much of his past thanks not only to his mind repressing the trauma he went through, but also remnants of something else. Owl seeks to fill the gaps in his memory and return home to his sister and the one he sacrificed to protect.

With some dots connected, Owl has a painful realization of what may potentially have been blocked and what he was put through. With a new found vigor, Owl intends to find more test sites & labs of project nimbus or any information correlating to it, in hopes of finding any information if his unit was ever involved in the project.

Obligations

Dutybound - Owl so many of his own comrades fall in the line of duty, bound by what was instilled in him by his commander alto, he will never abandon a comrade and win by any means necessary

Oath - Swore an oath long ago during the clone wars to liberate Jabim from the republic, this oath still stands to owl and will be forever drive owl to the highest of extremes to accomplish victories and fight in the name of freedom
