Background
Originally a 2-1B Medical Droid on a YT-1300 Light Freighter, his ship was attacked by raiders and all the living crew were killed and cargo stolen leaving him the lone survivor. 2-1B-MP was heavily damaged and spent eight years restoring himself to full functionality and then fixing the ship's engines (teaching himself the necessary skills from the ship's manuals) until he could fly the still-damaged ship to an Outer Rim world and after this experience 2-1B-MP has decided that he prefers to work on machines rather than people.
As a droid, his living requirements are fairly simple. He rents a storage cube at a local warehouse facility and all the workers there are familiar with him and the odd hours he keeps due to not needing to sleep. Sometimes he helps fix their vehicles in return for interesting tech items from "abandoned" storage cubes. His own storage cube contains a large workbench and shelves covered with tools, boxes of scavenged old-tech parts, his personal computer terminal, and a single chair (for visitors) that usually has a box of parts on it as well.
He hangs out at a Tech/Slicer bar called "The Boot Sector", where he has several technical and underworld contacts and shows off his (mostly personal) mods. He has also noticed that he can often get into secure locations without people paying much attention by impersonating some sort of service droid.
2-1B-MP works at a droid maintenance and customization shop called "Droids of Distinction", catering mainly to well-to-do customers that want their droids to stand out from the crowd as well as those looking for added useful features like hidden compartments or upgrades. They are known for their good quality workmanship and usually stay away from anything TOO illegal/risky. Their logo is a pair of golden gears, one larger and one smaller.
Motivation
Ambition. "Tube Amp" craves acceptance and admiration from fellow Outlaw Technicians, seeking to prove himself the full equal of any organic Tech. To this end, he works to improve his skills and modify his own body (case mod style) with various electronic and mechanical enhancements or stylings in order to impress his his peers. Status and reputation open many doors.
He enthusiastically follows any leads of ancient tech that he might be able to incorporate into a new body mod to impress his peers. Here in the Outer Rim, it's a gold mine!
Obligations
15: Debt. 2-1B-MP is in possession of a YT-1300 Light Freighter that once belonged to his former owners. His debt can represent their family or business partners coming looking for it (and him), or they can represent the money he borrowed to complete repairs on his ship.
15: Responsibility: After being alone for 8 years, 2-1B-MP is very dedicated to his friends and will do anything to try to help them if they are in trouble.
Description
Based on the standard 2-1B Medical Droid chassis, 2-1B-MP has an extra set of external body panels with large transparent cutouts in order to show off his internally modified machinery which he wears most of the time when not operating incognito on a job. When wearing these you can see various clockworks, flickering lights, neon style glow, springs, turning screws, and actuating rods. Most of them are just for show but some do perform actual useful functions. With his standard body panels on nearly all of these are covered, allowing him to pass as a regular looking droid.
He is somewhat infatuated with vintage mechanical devices that work without electricity using gears, levers, cams, springs, gravity, internal combustion, and other means to power them and has implanted various such devices into his body along with lights, vacuum tubes, and any other ancient tech he can get his hands on.
