Background
Van Hallen grew up on an imperial backwater. He signed up to get offworld 10 years or so after the clone wars, saw and committed more atrocities in the name of the empire. Until his home planet was found helping the rebellion. He was part of the cadre of troops assigned for ground assault. He waited until an opportune moment, and after shooting his commander, he helped his former home rebel. They lost. He was taken prisoner, and was put on a transport to Coruscant, for a public execution with the rest of the rebels on the planet... the prison ship was intercepted by the rebellion, and he soldiered for them for a while. Now he makes his living as a crew of a small desperate band of criminal mercenaries.
