Background
Y1-B was damaged and lost in the clone wars, until his captain found and repaired him. Y1-B's programming was rewritten to to server this new master. Over time his programming and personality evolved into a dedicated follower of his captain, developing the skills of a finger.
With his captains disappearance Y1-B has began to develop independence. While his primary obligations is still to support his captains ship and enterprise until his return, Y1-B has begone to imagine a world where he owns a stake in this ship after finding the captain.

Motivation
Wants to be treated as more than a droid, Y1-B thinks that by finding his captain he might gain that respect from him.
Obligations
Dutybound: Y1-B feels deep obligation to the former captain of our ship. He is always on the lookout for clues to where he went. In the mean time he knows he must continue to keep his masters ship and reputation intact for his eventual return.
