At the age of 11 Bak-ran snuck aboard a freighter from Saleucami, upon being discovered by a boy named Tarke who worked aboard ship, he joined the crew and traveled the Outer Rim for 3 years. During that time the Captain of the freighter Vector Fire taught him many things to stay alive and grow strong. On a trip to Tatooine tragedy struck when the Vector Fire was shot down by a Victory 2 SD called the Nightshroud. Crashing in the Jundland Waste, all aboard were killed except for Bak-ran and Tarke who survived only due to the Captain Stint shoving both young boys in an escape pod before the Vector Fire broke up. The crash severely injured Tarke and knock out Bak-ran. When Bak-ran awoke he found that a clan of Tusken while scavenging the wreak pulled several bodies and Tarke and him to their camp to be treated or buried. Tarke died smiling at Bak-ran only asking that he remember the fun they had. After burying the crew and donning the Captains favorite flight vest Bak-ran joined the Tusken clan called The Gre'hoark led by its shaman Mother Shri'rak. He learned to hunt, track, and shoot as well as how to commune with the Ancestors.
