* Ryn Onsi was born on Nar Shaddaa, where her parents abandoned her outside of a storefront at the age of seven. She remained there for three days before she was recovered by the shop's criminal claimant - a Herglic named Undo Teag. Whether through inspired mercy or simple curiosity, Undo fed and sheltered the girl for weeks, until a chance meeting with a Jedi contact revealed her strong Force Sensitivity. The Jedi, a man named Bardok Shen, who was strangely drawn to the girl, lingered in Hutt space over the course of several days in an attempt to convince the Herglic to relinquish the girl into his care. Finally, the criminal relented, but not before confessing that the girl's parents had been killed for their cruelty.
* Despite being older than was usually permissible, Ryn was admitted into the Jedi Order. Strong in the Force and physically dominant, she flourished as a result of her training and, when she was ready, Bardok Shen claimed her as his apprentice.
* For reasons he never explained to her, Master Shen remained drawn to the young woman, and committed himself wholly to her education and development. Under his training she became a formidable Padawan, but she also gained and nurtured her Master's own unorthodox methods and views. Like him, she came to believe that the Jedi had become stagnant, and had lost sight of both their dedication to the Force and to the Republic to which they were sworn.
* Despite her capabilities, Ryn was often decreed too headstrong by the Council, with whom Master Shen would argue profusely. His pride in his apprentice was no secret, but in the end he was convinced of the girl's lack of structure and discipline. Only when she learned those essential qualities, the Council said, would she be ready for the Trials that Bardok was adamant she undertake. Reluctantly, the Jedi Master became harder in his mentoring, driving a wedge between himself and his apprentice.
* The consequence of their final argument resulted in Ryn being confined to her chambers during a mission to find a political assassin on Coruscant - and being unable to react quickly enough when she felt her Master's life be put in great danger. Despite stealing the fastest airspeeder she could find, Ryn reached her Master just in time to see him cut down by a dark and mysterious lightsaber wielding figure. Gripped by anger and grief, Ryn threw herself at the dark figure, and engaged him in a duel that cost both combatants much of their strength, resilience, and willpower. In the end, Ryn knocked the figure off of the catwalk and down into the depths of the planet - but not before the man cut off her left arm. Gripped by shock and pain, Ryn slumped into unconsciousness, only to wake later in the Jedi Temple.
* As a result of her bravery, the Jedi Council bestowed upon Ryn the rank of Jedi Knight - a reward that the young woman was loathe to receive. She felt that she was being congratulated for disobeying her Master, and for failing to reach him in time to prevent his death. The Council urged her not to mourn his passing, but their callous indifference only riled her further. In celebration of her promotion, Ryn scoured the underbelly of Coruscant for the dark sider, hoping to find his remains. She found none, and instead vented her anger upon the first criminal element she came across, beating the thug to near-death. Shocked and appalled at herself, Ryn retreated to the Temple and sought guidance from Master Yoda, whose advice, whilst frustrating, helped to commit her to the role of Jedi Knight.
* Having built a new lightsaber to replace the one lost during her duel, Ryn made the unpopular choice to claim the darksider's saber crystal as her own. Despite its crimson colour, it served to remind Ryn of the battle that had almost destroyed her - physically and mentally - which served to strengthen her resolve and her commitment to the Order.
* Although now a Jedi Knight, Ryn's stubborn adherence to her Master's unorthodox views and habits kept her at odds with most of the Jedi Council - and Mace Windu in particular. Masters Mundi and Yoda remained adamant as to her potential, however, and sought to further encourage her development as a Jedi by assigning her a Padawan of her own, someone who might help Ryn realise a degree of restraint, patience, and tranquility that she had, thus far, been unable to achieve.

- From an early age, Ryn has been possessed of a strong sense of justice. She believes that her power and position as a Jedi gives her an immediate and pressing responsibility to defend and protect, as well as bring justice down upon those who deserve it.

- Ryn's bravery is quite remarkable. No matter the odds or the reason, she is always willing to take risks to help others, regardless of personal cost.
EMOTIONAL WEAKNESS: Anger
- Despite her Jedi training, Ryn can be quick to anger, and her hot temper can often get the better of her and cloud her judgement.

Ryn Onsi is a striking young woman in her late teens. Athletic, tall, and powerful, she moves with a gait that betrays her natural agility and thinly-veiled prowess.

Ryn's hair, cut short at her chin, is dark in colour, and serves to curtain a face that is alluring yet tempered with an expression of perpetual seriousness. Her sharp brown eyes betray the cunning mind that lies behind them, and her soft, rounded lips are rarely utilised as a smile.

Over her slightly tanned skin, Ryn often eschews the standard Jedi robes and instead wears practical, somewhat nondescript attire. Her utility belt holsters a blaster pistol and lightsaber both - the only outward suggestion, perhaps, as to her role as a Jedi Knight.

Where Ryn's left forearm used to be there now sits a prosthetic limb, attached just shy of her elbow. Its casing, like her other adornments, is grey and nondescript.
