Vulkan grew up in the underworld on Coruscant with his father, Leonidas. He spent the vast majority of his time working with his father in his mechanic shop, repairing various machines for paying customers.

Living in the Coruscant underworld isn't an ideal place to raise a child. Vulkan endured many dangerous interactions with customers at his shop. Between these difficult interactions and the discipline he learned through working on machines in his father's shop, Vulkan became a hardened individual. Sometimes Vulkan's confidence comes off as being stubborn and blunt, a trait he gets from his father.

Vulkan's relationships with family and people he trusts are something he values highly. He will stick up for those near to him.

A value Vulkan learned from his father is that machines are just what their name states they are..... machines. Leonidas instilled the idea in Vulkan's mind that machines are just tools to aid those who are alive. Because of this, machines have to live up to a high standard so that they will not falter when used by something living. To meet this standard Vulkan and his father put the endurance of their creations to the test by violently throwing and smashing them. If a machine can't survive a small beating, then it's not sturdy enough to be of use.

Because of all these values Leonidas taught Vulkan, he cares deeply for the living, whether it be animals or people. The living are to be cared for and creating machines is Vulkans avenue for expressing that.

When Vulkan was young he noticed his father was constructing machines to aid the Rebellion, and after confronting his father on the matter Vulkan began to work with Leonidas to help the Rebellion.

When Vulkan was 12, the Empire received word that his father was collaborating with the Rebellion and they came to take him prisoner with the intention that he would work for them. Leonidas refused and was killed for doing so. Before his passing he told Vulkan of a small starship he stored for emergencies and Vulkan took it and left Coruscant and headed for the outer rim. After crash landing on PLANET X Vulkan raised himself, using his ability to create machinery for money.

At a later age Vulkan learned that the Empire had been searching for him to fill the shoes they expected Leonidas to fill. Occasionally the Empire sends out a search party to the Outer Rim to find Vulkan, occasionally placing a bounty on him as well.
