Background
Bernard spent his youth working in and around mechanic shops. Being young and craving excitement, he spent most of his efforts on modifying speeders and swoops, and less on the study of repairs. He also had a knack for computers, but did not pursue it in favor of the excitement of the swoop racing circuits.
Motivation
Bernard has always had a passion for starships. He knows if he can just get his hands on one, he can turn it into something truly special. He is willing to take great risks towards his goal of having a starship of his own.
Obligations
Favor: 15 Obligation: Bernard had a run in with the Corporate Sector Authority over a failed slicing job. He was young and thought his familiarity with computers would be enough to see him through. He took the job trying to raise the money to buy an old used Incom A-24. As it was his first offense, and he seemed inept enough to not be a threat, the CSA let him go with the understanding that he owed them a favor that they would one day cash in. Since this run in with the CSA, Bernard has spent the time and effort in an attempt to become a competent slicer.
Debt: 10 Obligation: Bernard borrowed a large sum of money to purchase a D-22 speeder bike with a little left over for "enhancements". His goal was to enter an upcoming race that had a large enough purse to pay off the loan and buy a small freighter or shuttle. He poured all of his time and savings into souping up the D-22, he was sure he could make it fast enough to easily win the race. When the day of the race came, the D-22 was the fastest speeder on the course. Unfortunately, Bernard was much better at modifying speeders than he was at piloting them. He did not win the race, and destroyed the D-22 in the resulting crash less than halfway into the course. However, the debt still remains.
