Background
350BBY: Created as an aide to Jedi Master Klerro Morstecca as she explored the outer rim. Travelled together for many years, exploring and documenting numerous outer-rim star systems, until Klerro was killed by an undiscovered beast on a newly discovered planet.
300BBY: After the death of his master, 0L-4DR returned to the nearest Jedi temple, where he remained for many more years, assisting the various Jedi that were assigned there, watching as they grew from Padawan, to Knight, to Master, until returning to the force and being replaced by the next generation.
220BBY: Following the fall of Starlight Beacon, the Jedi stationed at the temple returned to Coruscant, and 0L-4DR was left to tend to the temple in the Jedi's absense, patiently awaiting their return.
180BBY: After waiting for many years, 0L-4DR had begun to break down, having long since exhausted the few repair compenents that were kept in the temple. One day 0L-4DR's sensors alerted him that the temple doors had been opened, and as he creaked over to greet the new Jedi, he was surprised to find not Jedi, but pirates. These pirates wasted no time in ransacking the temple, desecrating the place that for so long, 0L-4DR had considered home.
170BBY: 0L-4DR spent the next few years enslaved by the pirates, forced to serve them drinks and food, and endure the constant beatings and humiliations that came from serving under drunken briggands. But slowly over the years, 0L-4DR began using these injustices to his advantage, using every period of repair after a beating to subtly upgrade himself. A servo here, some wiring there, piece by piece 0L-4DR rebuilt himself, until eventually he was capable enough to snatch a blaster from one of his captors, and blast his way to freedom.
Now: Following his freedom, 0L-4DR did briefly return to the temple, but upon finding it exactly as the pirates had left it, came to the conclusion that the Jedi were never coming back. And so he bagan wandering the Outer Rim, eventually building a life for himself as a cargo pilot, which he uses to continue upgrading and replacing his old components, though he tries to keep his outer appearance as intact as possible. He would also pick up the nickname (Outlander,) a result of an elderly dockhand misreading his designation, after which it simply stuck.
