Background
While Ta'Neki had no love for the Empire, truth is he joined the rebellion because he is convinced his destiny is to become the greatest starfighter ace that ever lived. Unfortunately when he joined his easy going nature and adorable, diminutive stature led his commander to assign him to a mechanics duties, which he excelled at. During this time he told anyone who would listen he was a pilot but no one seemed to see him that way.
Months later, short on pilots, a friend from the mechanic pool suggested Ta'Neki as a stand in pilot. He performed capably enough as a copilot on milk runs he was informally moved to the regular pilot roster but only flying transports and freighters far from war zones.
One day he was sent as a copilot to deliver supplies to Corellia. Upon arriving he found a disorganized rebel cell which, to his delight, had somehow gotten three starfighters and didn't seem to have any real pilots. Even more fortuitous was the lack of orders for his next assignment from headquarters. Perhaps they forgot to send then (no one ever seemed to pay him much mind), or perhaps they got lost in transmission, or maybe hq wanted him assigned to this rebel cell. As a fighter pilot. It is this last option Ta'Neki has chosen, somewhat irrationally to believe.
Motivation
Ta'Neki has one goal. The be the greatest fighter pilot who ever lived. To this end he has more or less assigned himself as a fighter pilot to Bendar's cell. Considering his dubious posting, he is eager to follow orders and be a good soldier in hopes Bendar and the rest of the cell will lobby for him to stay. As a Chadra-Fan, his naturally agreeable nature helps greatly with this.
Ta'Neki also possesses enormous faith in his abilities as a pilot. This makes him confident to the point of recklessness in vehicle combat and obsessed with air superiority.
