Vas Vinok was one of the last trained sentinels in the republic before the purge. With no desire to be a general or leader in war, and being one of the only Clawdites to be admitted into the Order, it was decided that Vas’ role would be far more clandestine, serving in the clone wars as a spy and infiltrator, where he could put his natural shapeshifting abilities to good use. Vas was still a padawan at the time of the purge, and was off on one of his first solo missions when order 66 was given. Luckily, the classified nature of his mission and his skills at disappearing made it relatively easy for him to avoid capture during the rise of the empire. Mostly sticking to the shadows in the years following, his last known appearance on the galactic stage was during a Clawdite uprising on his homeworld of Zolan, where he assisted in his people’s attempted liberation from the Zolanders, who treated the Clawdites like second-class citizens and put them in slums. After the revolution was crushed, Vas fled off-world, vowing to live until he saw his people free. Since then, he has kept to the shadows, never appearing in his true form in public. Vas is not a team player, having been trained to act independent of other Jedi and, at times, the Jedi council itself. Being a sentinel, Vas is used to living in the more shadowy parts of the galaxy, and often walks the line between the light and the dark. Vas has an unconventional lightsaber style, using two shoto lightsabers, for both concealment and easier use in the confined spaces he often finds himself in, such as alleys or ship corridors. In the years following the rise of the empire, however, he has relied mostly on blasters for self-defense, keeping his lightsabers hidden. Because of this, he has fallen somewhat out of practice with the weapons, as well as with the force itself.

Vas is motivated mainly by the desire to free his people from slavery. He will accomplish this goal by any means necessary. As a result, he also has a strong desire to free all peoples from oppression. He believes that the force will be balanced when people’s opportunities are balanced, and when all people are recognized as equals.
