Background
Dot lost his parents when he was very young. He grew up on Lasan as an orphan during the time of the clone wars. Thankfully due to their lack of involvement, he did not suffer as much as other orphans during that time. When the empire arrived at Lasan, he saw other Lasats being evaporated by the T-7 Ion rifles when he was only 5. Before Dot could suffer the same fate as his people though, he was smuggled away by wookiee's who had come to intervene in the slaughters. Two wookies had taken Dot along with their children and sent them away on their own ship to escape the imperials.
Dot grew up alongside two wookies by the names of Ethne and Tohokk. Their parents were slain trying to get Lasats like Dot off-world. Dot saw them like his bigger brother and sister, they taught him how to fight, how to fly, and how to avoid the eyes of the empire. Helmets and armor being especially useful for their distinct races.
Dot eventually got to learning medical practices to help his wookiee family stay healthy during the turbulent times. Ethne taught Dot how to wield weaponry and even let him use their father's ryyk blades. Tohokk was a bit more of the silent type, he taught Dot how to stay under the radar so to speak, and even gave him some tips on how to pilot a ship. A few years ago the three of them found a small village with a heavy empire presence. Ethne and Dot both wanted to help the village to the dismay of Tohokk. He did agree to keep the ship warm if things went south. Which it did. The two thought to try to steal supplies from imperials and give them to the people of the village. They were found out however and it took all they could to escape. Ethne knew they stood no chance of getting off-world. She told Dot to get to the ship while passing him their ryyk blades. She routed the imperials away from them.
When they eventually left the atmosphere, they had left without Ethne. Tohokk and Dot traveled much more quietly than they had previously. Dot suspected that Tohokk blamed him for losing Ethne and he blamed himself. They had to shake the imperial heat and Tohokk was a lot more vocal about not sticking their neck out for others. They saw firsthand how far the eyes of the empire can see. To make matters worse, they drew the attention of a Trandoshan Lecrikt Vega, who then petitioned the empire to personally hunt the other wookie and oversee their work in a labor camp. They didn't care for the Lasat and the empire could do with Dot as they wished.
A few months ago, their ship had received significant damage from a firefight with Lecrikt. Forcing them to a world and seeking repairs. On arrival though, The two were then separated and Dot now doesn't know where either his adoptive brother or sister are or if they're even still alive.

He is devoted to seeing to their safety, well-being, and capacity for success. No one should ever be left behind: the most successful missions might not achieve every goal, but they are successful nonetheless when no one dies.
