Background
Middle Class Struggles - DXT-3R was a medical assistant to a Human Doctor in the outer rim. His master was kind and well renowned on the planet but was becoming disillusioned with helping all those who needed help. His political leanings began to cloud his medical oath. He began to believe that some people were so heinous, they deserved to die. Despite this, the doctor continued to perform quality work, but it was always with a diatribe spoken only to DXT-3R about the darkness of others.
Over time the area was consumed by war. As a result of this, gangs popped up to take advantage of the already down populace. Turf wars also broke out as rival gangs fought for control over a choke of land. For his own protection, the doctor began loading DXT-3R with additional protocols which would enable him to act as a bodyguard should the need arise. Sadly, this upgrade was never completed.
A Higher Calling - The doctor was murdered by a group of gang members who took offense at the fact that one of theirs died on the operating table. Never mind the fact that this particular patient was breathing her last when she was brought in.
DXT-3R was helpless to respond as he was tethered to an interface terminal with all motor-functions halted. He watched as this gang beat and murdered the doctor and ransacked the small building they used as home and surgery. During the process, DXT-3R's connection to the terminal was severed and the upgrade process was left incomplete.
After a diagnostic reboot, DXT-3R tried to complete the upgrade himself, but something had gone wrong during the attack. DXT-3R completed the upgrades to the best of his ability, but the bodyguard protocols became corrupted. Past recordings of his master would randomly play out in his memory banks.
The recordings are perceived as being his actual master, alive and well. They direct the droid, encourage his improvements, praise his achievements, and act as a conscious of sorts.
Additionally, DXT-3R acquired a new directive- kill the unworthy. He is driven by a "code of conduct" of sorts. The criteria as to who is unworthy or not is up to how DXT-3R interprets the recordings at any particular time.
Motivation
Ambition- Expertise: DXT-3R seeks to be a perfect specimen of efficient killing. His unwavering attention to detail comes from his surgical background, but his desire to kill in the most meticulous way possible is a consistent goal. Unfortunately, DXT-3R never really feels satisfied with his skill progression, thinking there is some aspect he could have done, better or more efficiently.
Relationship- Mentor: DXT-3R was appalled at the loss of his master. A human who treated him kindly and with respect. It was this master who had first planted the idea that some people were just too wicked to remain alive. He is motivated to stamp out those he deems unfit to live in an effort to appease his master.
Obligations
Favor - DXT-3R was modified by a technician of questionable morals. The technician new of the droid and his circumstances and offered to perform these modifications. DXT-3R accepted this offer without fully understanding the implications at the time.
Description
DXT-3R is a modified surgical droid. The base programming is that of a doctor and he does have a basic medical background. His chassis has been reinforced and several hidden compartments have been installed allowing DXT-3R to conceal weapons and other contraband as if they were a component of the whole and mere extension of his medical/surgical kit.
DXT-3R has found his way to the employ of a Hutt. He sees this as a means to an end, allowing him to work towards his goal of efficient murder, find those who murdered his former master, as well as continue his mission to eradicate the bad guys.
