Zaad Kaskeel grew up on Duro known as a brilliant pilot for every ship he had the pleasure of flying. He has a slight arrogance because of this as he sees himself as the best pilot to come from Duro and has proven as much.
When the Empire took over Duro, Zaad saw it as an opportunity to challenge himself and prove that he was the best pilot to ever live. He engaged in several dogfights with tie interceptors as the Empire arrived at Duro, showing off his skills by making close passes through Star Destroyer fleets trying his best to be noticed by the bridges of each ship he flew by. While the rest of his planet fled, he was impressed with the vigilance and finesse of the tie interceptor pilots and wanted to learn more about them. So he flew passed the defenses of the lead Star Destroyer and right into the hangar bay and joined the Empire to fuel his pride in his flight skills.
