This piece of gear is used to communicate between other comlinks. The handheld versions are only viable for extreme distances on planets, reaching up to low orbit. However, long range versions can usually reach the entire planet in range.
(1) Integrated Slicer Gear: Built-in computer system into one's outfit, along with the tools needed for slicing, allows one to conduct this illegal activity a little less conspicuously. Add 1 setback dice to all checks to identify that the character is slicing.

Motivation
The Underworld: The Alliance depends heavily upon smugglers and illegal trade to get many of the resources it needs, and lately the Player Character has been aiding the Rebellion quite often. He may have already been involved in scrapes with the Empire, or that may be yet to come.

The largest and most powerful military force in the history of the galaxy is also the most vulnerable to acts of destruction and asset denial. The character is focused on disrupting Imperial operations in any way possible, whether it’s the manufacture of weapons, troop movements, supply shipments, banking systems, or any other key operation, in order to make the Empire act more slowly and less capably. Truly showy acts of destruction also work to erode a population’s will to support the Empire, or so the PC often believes (though the Alliance [but potentially not Empire] expressly forbids actual acts of terrorism).
