Vel was born into a proud militaristic family on Coruscant. Both of her parents served in the Imperial Navy, her father on his way to becoming an Imperial Moff while her mother died in battle with Pirates, who ambushed her frigate and fired without warning.

Vel didn't think much of her family's background, and fooled around in the streets of Coruscant with other kids while she was little. Some of the kids she hung out with were of ill repute, and ended up giving her some death sticks to try. Vel was instantly hooked, and it lead to an addiction that would last a life time. As soon as her father got wind of that, he enrolled her in Imperial Academy, to get her out of her current lifestyle, even though she was slightly too young for it.

During her first year in the Academy, she quickly proved to her classmates and mentors that she was a step above the common military grade student. She carried herself with light step and was very agile, being able to take on two to three combatants at the same time, or sneak through a mock-up facility without tripping a single alarm / patrol. It didn't take long for the young prodigy to get noticed by the Imperial Intelligence, and she was enrolled in their Academy shortly after.

Her past life was not behind her, however. She struggled to keep her addiction fed without anyone noticing, and the only person who has ever caught wind of it was her best friend in the academy, Koraust (kor) Treskar. Vel made him swear an oath in blood that he would never tell a living soul about it, because it would mean the death of her career. In turn, she vowed to always be there for Kor, if he ever got himself into trouble. No matter what needed to be done, she would accomplish it.

While in the Academy, Vel has earned herself the nickname/callsign "Irid", after a beautiful species of bird that was not afraid to attack anything,not even its own family, because of how fierce she was in combat, not hesitating against opponents, both real and simulated. Her father was proud of how well she has been doing, and decided to give her a secret gift - he pulled some strings in the Intelligence hierarchy, and they allowed her to have two custom weapons made, with the vow that she would never harm her fellow students while in training,unless told otherwise.

The young prodigy is now closing in on the graduation date in the Imperial Intelligence academy. She is in the top 2% of the class, and has to make the top 1% cut, to stay relevant. Vel was invited by her C.O to the local casino for some R&R and she decided that it was a good idea to catch a small break...

Vel was born to an unknown family, who abandoned her as an infant. She was adopted into a family of a rich Coruscant politician, who could not conceive a child with his wife. She grew up in the life and luxury of a wealthy family, but it was not the life for her.

At age 10 she got mixed up with a circle of poor kids on the lower levels of Coruscant and started spending more and more time with them. Vel was cutting classes, missing appointments and generally was confusing her family as to what she was doing when not under their supervision. This went on for a year, until her family finally snapped and decided to put her on house arrest, with her own supervisory "bodyguard" that would not leave her side. Vel was furious, and wanted nothing more but to escape her current life, and join her friends on the lower levels. One day when the bodyguard had his guard down, she snuck up on him and knocked him out with a heavy Durasteel paperweight statue that she had on her desk. She took the credits he had on him, and fled to the lower levels.
Her family never managed to find her, but through not a lack of trying.

While in the lower levels of Coruscant, she ended up succumbing to an addiction to Death Sticks, which she was introduced to by a friend and a one-time fling, from her past. [She doesn't view it as an addiction,but more of a hobby,even now.] Vel ended up freelancing any kind of job she could find to get by, which usually resulted in either stealing,stalking,dealing or spying on denizens of Coruscant. Some of her old friends ended up joining the Black Sun, and she started doing some contract work for them, with the understanding that she will never tie herself to the organization.

At 17, Vel had to forge some documents for her contact in the Black Sun and plant them on the wife of a senator. When she was in the senator's bedroom, a guard ended up walking into the apartment, to do what seemed to be a normal patrol route. Vel was cornered, and with no escape options in sight, there was only one thing she thought she could do, to escape this situation. She reached for her vibroknife, waited for the opportune moment, and struck the guard in his neck, his body dropping with a thud on the floor,bleeding. She took his belongings, and slipped out of the apartment after finishing her task. This was the first time Vel had taken a life, but it would not be a rare occurrence for her, going forward.

After the mission, her Black Sun contact was shocked at how little remorse Vel felt on taking another's life, and took her up as his disciple. Later during the training, her mentor would reveal to Vel that he was taught in the ways of GenoHaradan by the people who raised him. He taught Vel how to fight, taught her how to stay hidden in plain sight, and how to fool even the most reserved and calculating person. She started doing assassination and "clean up" work for Coruscant's elite by the age of 23.

Fourteen years have passed since the events in the underbelly of Coruscant. Vel is now a skiled & feared spy and "problem solver" for a highly regarded member of the senate. She is never seen in the public eye, yet his rivals know that if they cross him, Vel will be there, waiting for them to make a mistake.
