Background
"Ion" earned his nickname testing munitions for the Republic. Assigned an operation to test a pair of experimental cannons, CT-2192 was told to test these cannons against Separatist ships fast and slow. The faster ones, no surprise, were harder to hit, and so this clone became notorious among his wingmates for disabling enemy ships with ion weaponry before finishing them with test weapons.
Ion embraced his nickname, as he feels that droids fear nothing more than ion weaponry. Memory cores can be salvaged from ballistics-wrecked ships...but they can't be salvaged from a victim of an ion surge.
Motivation
Cause: Galactic Peace - Ion is motivated by an ideal he never lived to see. Bred for war, Ion has only the tales from his travels of peaceful times. Passionate about his work, he dreams of what peace could mean for the galaxy. This is his prime motivator, as he sees the Separatists as heinous aggressors.
Belief: The Republic - Ion is loyal to the Republic as any Clone. The Republic is civilization and ambition to him, and he believes the entity to be infallible.
Duties
+5 (for 5xp) Space Superiority - Ion's primary role to the Republic is as a pilot. Better known for his work behind the stick of a starfighter, he also excels at piloting tanks, walkers, speeders, and other vehicles. A stubborn gear-head, Ion takes to hear the old saying "If you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself," and thus he commits himself to the fight on space or land--wherever the Republic needs him.
+5 (for 1k cr) Research & Development - Ion has a short history of testing experimental munitions and technologies against the Separatists. While these tools sometimes fail in the line of duty, Ion eagerly supports any push to further develop the Republic's ability to eradicate her foes.
Description
Ion is an "at all costs" thinker. Debating the means to the end is a job for Jedi philosophers. He understands he is a weapon, and he aims to be the best. Capable on land as he is in space, Ion is an enthusiastic and able pilot. However he still fights with skill and discipline while on foot, wielding dual sidearms but lacking a certain sleight of hand expected of some other clone pistoleers. He is notably more blunt and clumsy on foot than in space, but Ion makes for a loyal, objective-focused teammate wherever you need him.
