He has only ever seen the desert wastes of Tatooine before embarking on a life-changing journey.
He has experience with both scavenging functional components and using them to craft and repair machinery. The blaster he wields is of his own making.
In preparation to leaving Tatooine, he began learning Basic, although he still has a very limited vocabulary and even less understanding of grammar. He can read numbers and designations much better than text written in sentences.
