Notes
does this ship even exist in old EU/legends? no clue. years ago there was a single pixelated 2d side view image of this ship with its name on a giant collage of random CIS ships of same detail level and art style. if you know the one, you will also know it has a CIS death star rip off and a lot of geonosian fleet ships, one of which became canon in the cal kestis video game. some liberties were taken to make this ship have a backstory and lore and stats for this game system to make it feel real when I used it a couple times before AI/LLMs even existed, in the times before the 2020 virus. It comes to you now in full swsheets glory for ease of access. (apologies for the grammatical issues and need of better organization. this was copy pasted from fragments in multiple other locations where it existed prior to being compiled here. i will eventually have a proper, edited and acceptable to me version at some point that will be an easier read)
so before anyone even sees them below; I know what the emdash alt code is (0151), i'm using it as a page break for better formatting. I have never and will never use AI or LLMs to do anything.

Dianoga class picket, escort/patrol gunboat meant to be of same size and rough dimensions to be able to land and dock anywhere that a gozanti freighter convoy goes and give the gozantis some proper protection against pirates and other adversaries en route. their design also allowed them to carry a useful compliment of marine droids and a few small vehicles to patrol area where convoy lands to do business and guard their wares.
This ship was known for being very well armored and faster than the gozanti it was designed to escort so that it could fly ahead on intercept or catch back up to convoy after securing safe route. many of its parts were chosen specifically to be compatible with gozanti ones and make use of the gozanti's galaxy wide usage and repair experience. even the training was nearly identical with standard gozanti due to this and them being so similar for controls, dimensions, and layout of ship. crews of these ships had great experience with them, their bridges were so open and designed like the bridge of a capital ship that the captains of them felt like they were in control of a proper fleet vessel, and their crew quarters were spacious. if the company didn't double up on crew per room to have them run 3 shifts round the clock at full capacity instead of the normal method of skeleton crew in the known safe sections of route. it came from the factory with options for its primary and secondary armaments and while it didn't have as much dedication to aftermarket as the gozanti, many gozanti aftermarket kits could be used on this ship. namely the almost ubiquitous gozanti upgrade kit that added extra folding hydraulic feet sections to each landing gear requiring no extra modification of hull or landing gear mechanisms but allowing the gozanti to land anywhere in the wilderness that wasn't a swamp. [they had special pontoon modifications for that and water landings...]
The downsides of this ship came in the form of its higher fuel usage rates to feed its larger reactor and much larger engines. as well as its massive single piece armored hull made it quite difficult to access many components from the outside. and to reach them from the inside was a chore and cramped. right as this ship was starting to disappear from the major trade routes and system patrol duties of planetary defense forces in the mid and outer rim in favor of newer upgraded gozanti with more weapons and better shields and the option of the c-roc gozanti upgrade kits... the separatist crisis breathed new life into this thought to be dead line of ships. planets were scrambling to get anything they could for system defense and bringing whatever they had out of mothballs. and shipping companies were feeling the target on them from a new lack of republic protection in the outer rim. and the companies that made these ships with new massive contracts in hand started producing them by the thousands flooding the market and the contract requirements for CIS navy who needed a large number of smaller patrol ships and escorts that fit the requirements for speed, armor and weaponry. even if the CIS later learned that they were not worth repairing after they were sunk but rather sent to be stripped for materials and salvaged to feed production of better ships.

These ships sold incredibly well several decades before the clone wars, but almost immediately dropped off in popularity once their many flaws were widely known. hundreds of them were left floating around the outer rim, left to rot as orbital defense for worlds without the funding for a proper defense force. Many more were run till they had a problem that wasn't worth fixing and then stripped to the giant armored hull to salvage as many gozanti compatible parts as possible to maintain profitable gozantis.

lore wise the super heavy laser canons it has are a product of the ruusan reformation demilitarization and ban on turbolasers for non-military ships, and also heavily limited how many can be on military ships...
they are just really, really up-scaled and overcharged heavy laser canons that were cleverly designed by someone at a smaller but known company that created them as a way to push legal limitations to their absolute limits. rather than run power directly from reactor power lines or a set of long lasting lower but steady continual output capacitors for ship weapons, these run off of a series of capacitors designed to dump as much power as they can quickly directly to the laser canon with no wiring between them to not have problems with resistance and heat build up.
this design's limitation is that while it is far more powerful and able to punch thru armor easier, it has to recharge those capacitors from the normal power supply methods each cycle.
the mandalorians really took a hit to their pride when someone that wasn't them invented such a perfect way to both ignore republic legal restrictions and make something that could be called a mini-turbolaser that didn't require plasma canisters to fire it every time.

if you do not wish to give breach 1 to a "laser canon," this was a thought i had as well when it was created long ago (in a galaxy far far away). the easiest way to handle this is just delete the breach 1 and slow fire 1 qualities. 1 additional base damage to a heavy laser canon on a sil 5 warship isn't going to break this game. a light turbo laser is damage 9, breach 2. this entire laser canon class was just a way to have something better than a heavy laser canon but not have it be as powerful as a turbolaser.
want something less common for its main turrets? use medium flak canons. they have official stats available on the wiki for this game system, and i can't name a ship that has them on it off top of head.
