Taking lesson learned from the moderately successful DSD1 dwarf spider droid, the next step in the line was to increase the speed of the and manuverability of the predecessor. This was accomplished by spring-boarding off of the clone wars era At-rt and creating a more effective patrol ans scouting platform. Through trial and error the platform even maintained its ability to scale certain vertical surfaces, though at a reduced speed.
