The Lode Runner is a YT-1300 Freighter that was originally missing a cockpit. Initially, this didn't bother HK-421 as he doesn't need to breathe, but he figured the added protection would benefit any riding meatbags, so he got the ship cleaned up, and put a cockpit of a YT-2400 in the recessed area of the YT-1300 hull. He has since christened the model, the "YT-1421".
The cockpit is the "captain's quarters", as HK does not need to sleep. All of the memorabilia from his various kills and jobs are all over the cockpit.
