Notes
Armed heavy freighter based on the east indiaman cargo frigates of the 18th & early 19th centuries and brought to life by Ansel Hsiao (fractal sponge). everything lore/stats beyond this is not associated with fractal sponge or star wars ffg and is homebrew.
These vessels are made at the Blackwall shipyard in orbit of Eriadu, owned & operated by Eriadu mfg. directly. Manufacture of these 470m long freighters started in the decades before the end of the new sith wars and continued into the high republic era. The only change to the vessels during the high republic was a reduction in firepower on ones publicly sold during demilitarization. These reductions included replacing its light dual turbo lasers with quad laser canons or light ion canons, and complete removal of its missile launchers and control systems for them. Though no change was made to the hardpoints, meaning that larger military weaponry could be easily reinstalled. the bridges on ones made even up until the clone wars still have the consoles and position where the missile controls were however they have been converted into a redundant sensor console. Versions of this ship were also made as salvage and light mining vessels with most of its weapons replaced with tractor beams and mining lasers. Ironically the mining versions retain all the launcher controls and the tubes of the pre-high republic vessels but are only loaded with probes.
These vessels are capable of entering atmosphere and landing on any heavy pad capable of handling its weight. These vessels have a modification to their landing gear that became so common that Eriadu mfg bought out the aftermarket manufacturer and started having this mod be standard on all vessels. This modification was a set of weld on folding hydraulically powered extensions to its landing gear to quadruple its footprint and allow it to land on even rough hard ground with no man-made structures. This being the most common landing area available in most of the outer rim.
Another modification done to this ship that is more specialize is related to its modular side engine design. a 2nd engine of same make can be easily mounted onto the outer side of its nacelle bringing it up to 6 engines. This is because all of the engines are made the same with mountings and connections on both sides that are identical. This model of engine is used on a few other Eriadu mfg ships, and many of those use a line of 3 or a cross of 5 of these just leaving the outside mounts covered with a thin cover of durasteel. It is a poorly kept secret though that because the manufacturer does not offer 6 engine models nor do they sell these engines on their own, any ship that has the extra engines obtained them by salvage and voided their ability to have Eriadu mfg do work on the ship going forward. "for safety reasons" Though who would say no to having +1 speed (or +2 handling if have 4 extra but removes ability to land on planet) and +1 handling to their ship if they had the option? who even takes their ship to the manufacturer for repairs in the outer rim anyway?
